Here are several tips to help you avoid investment scams:
Licensed – Only deal with individuals or entities that are registered or licensed by the Securities Commission Malaysia and/or the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia.
Verify – Always ask questions and request important information to verify the identities of the individuals or entities you are dealing with to understand their products or services before making any investment decisions.
Evaluate – Don't allow anyone to pressure or rush you into making an investment decision. Take your time to carefully evaluate all investment opportunities and check with the relevant authorities before investing.
Secure – Always keep your personal information secure, including your MyKad number, address, bank details, and existing investment details. Scammers often use this information to steal your identity or access your financial accounts.
Farfetched – Be cautious of investment opportunities that are not presented in writing or that seem too good to be true. These are often red flags for potential scams.
Online – As online scams are on the rise, be especially cautious of investment advertisements you come across on the internet.
Cashless - Be wary of unusual payment requests/methods. Legitimate transactions via cheques/bank transfers and payable to Kenanga Investors Berhad only. Cash and cash deposit are not accepted.
By following these tips, you can protect yourself and your financial interests from potential scams.
